  2. The 20 “terrorist” holdouts are showing the GOPe how a minority should act. A minority doesn’t have much power, but when you do (like on the omnibus bill) you use it instead of rolling over.

    1. Trump is not a detailed, tactical person. The Speaker of the House has to be a principled, and detail oriented person.

      Also, Trump has already thrown in with the Establishment (Do Not Ask Me Why!?) IMO? He would be a figure head at best.

    McCarthy might have a few extra votes had he not spent the last election cycle starving MAGA candidates out.
    McCarthy is as swampy as they come, which is obvious to anyone who has been paying attention for the last decade.

      The GOP has some sort of infection that makes them stupid. They need to take page from the Dems where they .. you know … stick together.

    Remember only a few months ago, Manchin got “iron clad guarantees” as he was holding out before supporting the DeMarxist Senate vote.

    Hope the condition list is long. Detailed financial scrutiny of Ukraine bribes. Replacement of GOPe head Ronna McDaniel Romney as well, talk about controlled opposition!

    This is great, though the media also benefits scorning the GOP as well. Oh well, sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the right outcome.

  10. For the life of me, I don’t get why the Dems don’t throw some votes McCarthy’s way. If he’s as RINO as the 20 think he is, isn’t that a win for the blue team?

    1. That would be an indication that they are allowed to think and decide.

  11. Come Monday, you will find that McCarthy has brokered a power-sharing arrangement with the Democrats that will give him plenty enough (D) votes to win the Speakership. While this will be hailed as a great victory for bipartisanship and Our Democracy™ by all right-thinking people (which is to say, Left-thinking people) it will simply prove that the Republican leadership is far more willing to compromise with Democrats than with their own party. They still have no idea how Trump happened, they have no idea how fed up with the usual BS people are. They elected Donald Trump, for the love of God! Do you have any idea how much they must hate your guts if they prefer Donald Trump to you?

    2. The Democrats could assure a McCarthy victory by merely having 60 or a hundred Democrats stay home and NOT VOTE.

      The total would be McCarthy 190-200 votes, Rebels 20-30 votes, Democrats 100-150 votes. The majority of 200 votes would win against the 180/(30 + 150 votes.)

      Expect the Democrats to try this Monday Afternoon or Tuesday. Why Monday or Tuesday? It gives the Democrats a chance to win the Sunday Morning Talk show wars. Not that that matters to us, but it really matters to the Washington DC – New York F***ing City chattering classes that they “win” the “Sunday Morning Talk Show Wars.”

  20. So nine Republicans vote with the Democrats to pass the Omnibus bill and we get crickets from the rest of the Republican party. But the Democrats can’t throw their weight behind getting McCarthy voted in because that would expose the whole rotten mess that is American politics. Meanwhile the staunch twenty are holding their ground despite the Republicans, Democrats and the media trying to eviscerate them. If this situation continues till the weekend I imagine there are going to be a lot of Republican voters contacting their representatives and demanding that they vote for Trump. Once positioned Trump could oversee the investigations and impeachment proceedings of several Democrats and that would be when the SHTF. I’m dreaming in technicolour but it doesn’t cost much.
