People suffering from mental disorders who have other underlying conditions may already be eligible for assisted dying. The expansion specifically includes people who only have a mental disorder.
That will make Canada one of a handful of countries where someone who is suffering from a mental disorder and whose natural death is not foreseeable will be able to receive a medically assisted death.

Having mental illness decreases “decision making capacity”, and as can be illustrated by the bureaucrats tasked with helping veterans, not all requests will be voluntary, and without external pressure.
Also, why does that bureaucrat still have anonymity?
In Canada, you can get a doctor to kill you or to cut off your penis simply because you feel it’s necessary, but you can’t get a doctor to prescribe you Ivermectin.

A while back, a person attempting suicide was considered mentally disturbed and in need of treatment. So now, if you fail in your suicide attempt, I guess they can apprehend you as mentally unfit. Then presumably, they will now offer you MAiD. this change to make death available for anyone that requests it, I see it growing to the point that the government can make that choice for any citizen. Consider what the turd said about the truckers, perhaps this will make things easier to rid the “undesirables” that the government deems a threat to their grip on power! Undesirables and deplorables watch your six! As has been said many times, just because someone may be a conspiracy theorist, it doesn’t mean they are not out to get you.
