Photoblogging

I have the great privilege of spending this first month of 2023 in South Carolina. Here’s an assortment of animal photos I’ve captured in the greater Charleston region.

    1. Bob, I have two DSLRs: A Nikon D850, which normally has an 80-400mm Nikon lens on it -and- a D600 which normally has a 24-70mm Nikon lens on it. The total weight isn’t fun but this combination of cameras/lenses gives me great flexibility to capture what I want in all situations.

I also have a Samsung S21 Ultra phone which takes surprising good photos: https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/galaxy-s21-ultra-5g/

In all cases, I shoot everything in RAW and do process 100% of my photos in Adobe Lightroom.

      1. Nice kit!!
Lots of great gear out there.
The new mirrorless cameras are amazing, but pricey.
My S22 Ultra is said to be 108 MP!

  1. Superb pics Robert. I’ve liked all your pics but these look like you’ve upped you game a bit. I’m amazed at the detail in the Pelican pic.

    1. Funny story: The pelican was sitting near a boat in the Shem Creek area of Metro Charleston. There were actually two of them. But at first glance, I thought they were fake, like those plastic owls one often sees. Then I suddenly realized they were real … and only about 4 metres away from me!

  2. My steaks sure look cute before they’re slaughtered for my enjoyment. Thank you, ranchers! For keeping my walking meat so well groomed … and sweet grass fed.
