Three stories on carbon capture and storage (CCUS): On Wednesday, the feds announced an intake for projects related to CCUS.
And the Petroleum Technology Research Centre announced recently they were including a CCUS summit in this spring’s Williston Basin Petroleum Conference.
And then there’s the oilsands efforts in CCUS. Bonus points for the Canadian Press story including the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
Only in Canada eh?
Pity…since our politicians love to subsidize projects like these…
The retail markets…not so much.
What about Unicorn habitat preservation, how come we’re not acting on that yet?
All of which would be very exciting, if there were any scientific evidence that a trace gas in the atmosphere that is essential to all life on earth has more than even minimal possible influence on the climate. Not even the (scientists) at the IPCC claim that. Then there’s this…

Everything is going swimmingly.
Will any of this matter at all following the coming nuclear exchange?
If you are capturing CO2, can you sell it to greenhouses, or does that not qualify?
Can you purify it and sell it to soft drink companies or does that not qualify?
How about to gas supply companies for the purposes of welding?
Oil companies for fracking?
Closed loop heat pumps?
Closed loop power plants?
organic solvent processes?
plastic foams?
I bet the only government approved use will be pumping it back into the ground.

Ha! I read that a little too fast (twice!) and saw it as Canadian Centre for POULTRY Alternatives.
Whew! Canada isn’t that far gone yet… I think. Now I’m afraid to do a search on “Canada + Poultry”.
There are no poultry alternatives in Canada, they all come under the supply management system.
My area is being set up to manufacture hydrogen for the Nazis utilizing wind power for electrical requirements.
Wind warnings are not uncommon, today for example, “Dangerous wind gusts causing widespread damage are expected or occurring.
Maximum gusts: 110 km/h, except locally 150 in areas prone to enhanced southeasterlies.
Locations: western Newfoundland.
Time span: this afternoon until overnight tonight ”
This wind project is going to be comedy gold! How far do you think a windmill blade will fly in a typical Atlantic storm, let alone getting hit by hurricane winds every year or so?
The trouble with admitting any part of a lie is that it allows those who ride the lie for their own gain as long as they have the door open a crack.
Any policy that gives any credibility to the co2 narrative props the door open so all the vultures can build white elephants for the next ten years. If they were doing that on their own money, that would be fine but it will need government oversight, and government grants, and maybe even the odd regional kickback to keep it going. This is costing us taxpayers far too much and it takes everyone’s attention off the real problem by creating more problems.
Co2 is essential for life and our efforts should be going into finding ways to help people to understand this, rather than going along, to get along.
Right on the money, Lance. Very well stated.
Of course there is great interest in carbon capture.
It will be the easiest way to get access to subsidies for a long period of time without having to demonstrate economic viability. A no brainer.
CO2 is not a pollutant or a climate driver. The terminally stupid who think so need to finally die.
I’m appalled at this anti-plantite bigotry and oppression, trying to reduce the trace gas they need to thrive, curtailing their growth. I propose a new political action movement. I call it, the Stomata Liberation Front!
That is brilliant.
Carbon capture is fools gold.. Its is plant food after all.. Pump it up your rear end for all I care.. Its just a excuse to be able to keep the lights on..
