Blame the Mothers

Interesting study:

This pilot study compared mothers of boys with gender identity disorder (GID) with mothers of normal boys to determine whether differences in psychopathology and child-rearing attitudes and practices could be identified. Results of the Diagnostic Interview for Borderlines and the Beck Depression Inventory revealed that mothers of boys with GID had more symptoms of depression and more often met the criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder than the controls. Fifty-three percent of the mothers of boys with GID compared with only 6% of controls met the diagnosis for Borderline Personality Disorder on the Diagnostic Interview for Borderlines or had symptoms of depression on the Beck Depression Inventory. Results of the Summers and Walsh Symbiosis Scale suggested that mothers of probands had child-rearing attitudes and practices that encouraged symbiosis and discouraged the development of autonomy.

Incidentally, given that Justin Trudeau’s mother, Margaret, had … ummm … some “challenges”, might this explain how her son turned out? Asking for a friend.

I don’t understand why people in general, and even on this blog, persist in walking on eggshells, and tip-toeing around Margaret Sinclair Kemper Trudeau’s life-long mental illness. She lived it in public, sometimes flaunting it in the country’s face, sometimes profiting from it and her notoriety therefrom by signing lucrative book deals and speaking engagements, and in my opinion she deserves no mitigating consideration. Nor does Trudeau senior, who was a life-long addict of professional therapy, whether because he needed it, or he thought it was the cachet of the beautiful set.

I don’t blame most people who suffer from mental illness; it’s not their fault in most cases. But Margaret was the spoiled daughter of indulgent rich parents, and she married into two rich families and has lived a life of luxurious self-indulgence with no responsibilities. In point of fact, until the blogger pointed out that Margaret could be responsible for an insane head of government, few have ever held her accountable for anything.

If you or I had a parent who lived a life of high-profile, flagrant, bi-polar, manic-depressive narcissistic embarrassments, we would be disqualified from seeking public office and the public opprobrium would leave us slinking away in anonymity. Rightly or wrongly.

Does Junior get a pass because he’s a princeling? How open-minded and benevolent of egalitarian Canada to show preferential treatment to a member of the plutocratic oligarchy.

    1. (applause)

Justin was raised by two horrible people to be the tyrant-apparent.

He is an attention-seeking narcissist incapable of thinking of others (who makes his son’s birthday about himself?).

He truly is a danger to himself and others.

For some reason, no one sees fit to remove him from office.

  2. It shouldn’t be assumed that because the Spawn’s mother is a loon and his father was an arrogant leftist POS, that he would necessarily follow some deterministic inheritance and be some combination of both parents but unfortunately his character and actions have confirmed that to be the case.

  3. I briefly scanned the study. I could not find the word father in it. Perhaps the lack of a male parent and role model in the home also has an effect on how the little boys turn out?

  4. Not really a surprise. If you see the mothers of these damaged kids, it is pretty clear they are pretty damaged themselves. Fat, ugly, overweight and multi-coloured hair for the most part…and that is bad enough. But wait until they open their mouths.

these women are taking all of the depression and misery in their life, and trying to make their sons carry it for them. Misery loves company.

    1. jamesHalifax, I suspect you live in Halifax given your pen name, but one would SWEAR by your observations that you live in downtown Toronto, say the Annex, Riverdale, Seaton Village, etc. You have aptly described a significant Toronto demographic!

      1. I try to stay as far from Toronto as I can but a close freind of my wife lives right by Trinity Bellwoods Park and that neighborhood should be named Chock Full O’Nuts.

      2. Oh, yeah. Toronto, land of the terminally narcissistic sea mammals. Holy crap, sometimes it’s all you can do to keep quiet when you hear a pair of them yammering to each other, usually with a kid standing there crying.

Just walk on by old man. Don’t speak, don’t look, or there’ll be trouble. Like blue-haired semi-human land mines looking for a place to explode.

  5. To me these mothers suffer from a form of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Instead of making their child sick by poisoning them to get people to feel sorry for them, they are trying to get people to see how woke and brave they are.

    1. Largs, to make this comment again, you MUST live in downtown Toronto in one of the aforementioned neighbourhoods, either that or its equivalent in say Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa, etc. You’ve hit the nail on the head here.

  6. Maggie has “some challenges??” The only real challenge for her was she only had one tw@t, and only 24 hours in a day.

    1. SDA readers, please help me compile Maggie-T’s body count. Ron Wood, Ted Kennedy, Ryan O’Neal, Lou Rawls and Geraldo Rivera come immediately to mind, but given – to use a Dennis Miller analogy – she was “passed around like a goatskin flask at a Blue Oyster Cult concert”, there must be many more.

  7. I’ll digest that. Gender bender kids have bat shit crazy mothers. I don’t think this is news.
