9. It took the Roman Empire three hundred years to fall. It seems that the US will complete the task in much less time.

   1. @John: The official date of the fall of the Roman Empire is considered to be 476 AD with the ending of the western part of the empire which included Rome. So, if you consider the approximate starting date of the empire to be around the time that Augustus took over, the empire lasted almost 500 years. The Roman Republic lasted almost 500 years as well. The USA has been around almost 250 years. I don’t see it (or stable western civilization for that matter) lasting another 50 years. Yeah, so I guess I agree with you with my nit-picking details.
