Tommy Douglas, Not Rich Enough

The Marda Loop Medical Clinic owner, Dr. Sally Talbot-Jones, came under fire this week after the CBC reported she started a membership model at her clinic, one that charges $4,800 per year for two parents and two children, and $2,200 per year for an individual adult membership.

Ironically, Talbot-Jones appears a fully blown NDP supporter, given she has a history of pro-NDP and anti-UCP tweets. She’s tweeted support of the NDP and opposition to the UCP multiple times since 2020.

  1. The socialist health care is only for the working stiffs.
Others get, as they should, better treatment by paying.

Q’bec as usually is treated differently, because….

  2. That’s how socialists/communist systems work, the upper class will get front line service while the rest of us get herded into the usual places.

  3. The greediest, most money-grubbing, mercenary doctors I’ve met in the profession have all been hard core lefties. So no surprise here.

    1. The Trudeau crime family are still reaping and living off investment income generated from PET father Charlie, and his string of gas stations. Yet fils and grand fils all profess admiration of Communist/Bolshevik/Maoist dictatorships, where presumably all their generational wealth would be confiscated and they would be sent to re-education camps.

I fail to see any logical consistency, just zero self-awareness, massive self-entitlement, and pathological hypocrisy. As always with these types, their projection and effrontery takes one’s breath away.

  4. Wish there was such a thing in BC where no one has a doctor. $4800 is pretty cheap compared to dying.

  5. It’s not unusual for business owners to support the political thugs that prevent competition. In a free market she would face the prospect of unlimited entry and the NDP wouldn’t like to see very many like her in business.

    1. “It’s not unusual for business owners to support the political thugs that prevent competition”

So in the case of dairy, egg, and poultry producers, that would be every sitting MP.

      1. You could likely add health care as well as I don’t hear any Conservatives talking about more private alternatives or even questioning the sanctity of single payer.

          1. It’s political suicide because the ruling class have granted the media the role of gatekeepers of politically acceptable language. The “gatekeepers” see everything through their pathological (envy, resentment, and hatred) NDP/LPC lenses. The smearing of all alternatives to our quasi-communist system as being US-based health care plays to the ignorant and bigoted. Conservatives are happy with our substandard and clearly rationed system as they will support almost anything that makes them electable and are therefore next to useless when in power as they keep themselves within the toxic limits of the gatekeepers.

        1. Yes, we stick with the North Korean or Cuban model, rather than exploring the Swiss Model, or Japanese Model, or anywhere else in the world, on the basis that somehow we will end up with the American model if any changes are allowed.

          1. Yet riddle me this, JD. Why is there so much Canadian medical tourism to the US if the US system is to be feared and never ever EVER adopted?

I’m not defending the US system. It’s an order of magnitude more expensive than it needs to be, but you generally get good quality care, and often first-rate care, in a timely manner.

What my question above is asking is why Canadians find their “free” healthcare sacrosanct? It’s a political 3rd rail if a politician dares to suggest changing it, but my reading is that most Canadians absolutely revile the system and care that’s given and will pay to avoid it if they can afford to.

To me, “It jus’ don’t add up,” as they say. I get mixed messages from the smoke signals coming from Canada. I honestly don’t get it.

  6. Work hard at staying healthy and avoid doctors. You’ll be better off in the long run.

  7. Lefties always make sure to get theirs first.

You ever met a poor teacher in Canaduh ?
