Police? Who needs those?

With all the hoopla about defunding the police over the past three years, what other outcome did anyone expect? What’s worse is the inevitable move towards a recruitment standard of simply having a pulse.

In Newfoundland, for example, the vacancy rate for RCMP positions was at 17 per cent. The vacancy rate is the gap between the number of officers the force is committed to under policing contracts with the province and the numbers the RCMP is actually providing.

In Prince Edward Island, the Mounties providing 16-per-cent fewer officers than the province has contracted for. In Alberta and the Northwest Territories, it is 15 per cent.

The vacancy rate is 13 per cent in New Brunswick, 10 per cent in Manitoba and eight per cent in Nova Scotia.

  1. No problem. The ROC can have Alberta’s when we create our own provincial police force, en route to the inception of the Independent Republic of Buffalo.

    1. I’ve been hearing that most of my life but it never seems to materialize. Very disappointed that we haven’t been able to make even the smallest move towards ridding ourselves of Ottawa’s influence.

  2. You should be happy they can’t find enough stormtroopers to carry out the wet work for Liberal fever dreams of international submission.

At this point being an employee of the military wing of the Liberal party might get you the gallows. It takes serious commitment to the narrative to take that pay cheque.

  3. Fantastic! Now they’ll be scouring pool halls and gyms for roid raged, jacked up phschopaths with over the top superiority complexes to fill their ranks.
    What could possibly go wrong?

  4. I guess there are only so many one-legged, Polynesian lesbians that want to be a Mountie.

  5. I recall many years ago when my older brother joined the RCMP, the entry requirements were very strict: male, physically fit( minimum height require ments), etc., etc. There was no shortage of applicants, now not so much. An elite organization then. Oh, how times change

  6. No chance it has anything to do with their Diversity hiring policies right?

Superman couldn’t get hired by the RCMP.

  7. I guess the editor didn’t notice the irony of the people in the picture. I’ll leave it to the readers here to comment.

  8. Police and call centers are an important duo to help ensure security. When I was faced with a situation requiring immediate intervention, a call to the police activated the call center. Professional operators responded quickly, providing the necessary information and support. Their effective coordination with the police made it possible to resolve the situation quickly and safely. This experience has shown how harmonious interaction between law enforcement officers and call centers contributes to our security and maintains order in society.

  9. Disband the Royal Clintonista Mounting Podestas, implement provincial police forces and if they want an actual Federal force they can lobby the provinces to fund it.

  10. I knew some guys who wanted to be in the police force 25 years ago when they finished high school / university / army. They were white males and they were all rejected with out explanations as to why they not accepted.

    1. My daughter was rejected because she admitted to ordering pepper spray which is illegal in Canada but was readily available from Amazon.ca. She didn’t know it was illegal at the time and when she found it was, she emptied the spray in a safe place and threw it away. The fact that she admitted to doing something illegal was the reason they couldn’t take her. They said she could reapply in six months. The fact that she was physically fit, had training in the IDF in self defence and gun handling, and had conservative views and very high personal ethical standards I’m sure had nothing to do with it. Just to make sure she didn’t try again, she was then subjected to the indignity of a full on police investigation including being dragged into the police station and interrogated where she was threatened with being charged for admitting to buying illegal pepper spray over Amazon.ca during her interview process. They have very high standards.

      1. I’m sorry your daughter when though this Justin.
That’s just so typical of life in Canada under police boots…. they go after low hanging fruit with abandon, but get illegal hand guns out of criminal gangs hands or stop human trafficking, rapes & muggings, must be too much work. Then their buddies in the court systems lets the really bad guys out with a slap on the wrist while they were over punitive on your daughter over a very minor act – this is why we don’t trust the police. They will turn on you, better if your innocent, easier to harm you – they get to look good to their superiors and gov paid for media at your expense.

      2. I had three good friends and a cousin who were policemen .. two in the city of Toronto, one an OPP in Bala Ont. and the cousin in Toledo Ohio. All but the cousin resigned early on in in disgust. My Ohio cousin transferred to a desk gig and soon after he retired.

The dishonesty and general bullshit that was prevalent at that time was more than they could tolerate. This was forty-five years ago. Can you imagine what’s going on now?

Who in their right mind would sign up to be part of that disgraceful profession.

Not all cops are bad, but you can’t tell who is the good and who is the bad and who is just plain ugly.

  11. Let’s review – what old Pete Trudeau did to the country:
He inherited a balanced budget and then ran up deficit after deficit until he had run up the federal debt by more than 1,000%. By his final term, interest rates and the deficit were out of control. He ran a deficit of $38 billion in his final year in office which represented 8.7% of the GDP. His actions led to long run consequences of run away inflation, a falling dollar, sky high interest rates and worsening unemployment.
His kid is probably even worse but I leave it to others to add up the numbers. It’s too tough on my blood pressure and one rant on a Trudeau is all I can take on a Sunday.

    1. I hate to break it to you but Trudeau 2 has sons as well This means we will be subjected to yet another round of Trudeaumania when the elite decide it’s time for a new puppet.

  12. I saw a report that Sask is making the first steps to replacing the federal RCMP with a Sask. police force, as is Alberta. 2x funny as the RCMP training facility and national forensics lab is in Regina…

When AB/Sask. have sent those federal police back to the under policed provinces, those areas may find themselves “over policed”
Well you get what you pay for. Are the provinces being underserved by RCMP still paying the full amounts as stipulated in their contracts? Why?

    1. This is a good question. In my area of rural Manitoba it’s 90 minutes to have police arrive in a life and death emergency. People don’t generally bother calling them except if they need a report number for insurance purposes. I kind of like it this way. They can take days to get back to you on something. The only thing that really seems to get them excited and fast moving is if there is a gun involved.

      1. New Brunswick looked into replacing the RCMP. The soviet commitee for Public Safety hired a bunch of retired RCMP officers to conduct the review on contract wages. No surprise these grifters recommended keeping the RCMP. Its a bike gang in red serge. Once your in you can never leave.

  13. Good Luck!

I am thankful that here in the US, we have mostly city and county police forces. I cannot imagine what it would be like having our corrupt, politicized FBI as our only law enforcement agency.

    1. Canada has lots of local police. Nelson, BC has its own city police for a town of 15,000. Quebec has several municipal forces (MRC near Ottawa, Gatineu, Aylmer and Hull police) as well as the Surete du Quebec. Ontario has the OPP, Hamilton police, Halton Regional, Peel Regional, and more.

The RCMP tended to be used in areas where local budgets did not support enough local police.

People are starting to realise what a massive mistake that was. The US is better at some level, but you have WAY too many roid-ragers and Coke-heads who want to shoot people but are too chicken-sh## to be in the army.

  14. A good hearted, honest and family oriented young man, of whom I am very familiar, applied and was accepted to the RCMP. He was picturesque, standing at 6’3 with a square jaw and shoulders. He worked five years up North to eventually be able to determine his own place to work in Canada. Trained SWAT, many commendations, studied law, and tactics, and never a problem. He tried to advance, but unfortunately, he did not speak french. Then he was disillusioned by the politics behind the scenes, and the two tiered justice system. He left the RCMP and is now in another line of work.

The kind of people we want are displaced by racism, unfair treatment of anglophones in this country, and divisive politics. Why would any person of conscience want to be associated with their kind?

  15. Could not care less. The Cdn conservative fetishization of police is very weird to me, especially given the way they trampled over Canadians with abandon during the Covid lockdowns. Police are a necessary evil to be kept on a shot leash under strict local control. At best.

  16. “…inevitable move towards a recruitment standard of simply having a pulse.”

I read that too quickly and thought it said ‘purse’… 😉

  17. Staffing shortages are only one part of the problem.

At one point 30% of the rcmp in BC were off on stress leave. Think about it, are the provinces who contract with Ottawa for policing services getting their money’s worth? The question is rhetorical.

  18. Friend of mine is Swat.
He says that anyone that wants to defund the police should call their local precinct and have their names entered in the system as people who don’t want police assistance in an emergency.
    Clown world.

  19. Will the whole of the bribed Trudeauian Media Acolytes ever have the nads to ask and report about the hopefully for them still alive, probably Trudeau mind hive hopium smoking victim of a home invasion, by a desperate drugged up type, their opinion after they find out that thanks to the Ferguson Effect they undoubtedly supported, the responding police force (yes we are assuming they still could even make that 911 call while about to be bludgeoned) were delayed due to a shortage of officers.

Meh! Don’t think so. That sort of admission of reality I have come to realize would hurt as much as a baseball bat blow to their heads. Sounds like and is societal suicide brought you by the detached from reality intellectual elites of our media.

  20. When there is on peace to keep, what use are peace officers?
Well in Justine’s Can Ahh Duh we are all about equity.
So if the tax payer ain’t safe,it is only fair and reasonable to strip all our “Representatives ” of their armed protection.
And those Judge Critters,if they so love the rights and freedoms of their pet clients over the rights and freedoms of those who provide their paycheck..so be it.
Publish all their home addresses “Sanctuary for the criminals” free stuff.
Also when the law has become such an ass, that only assholes will enforce it..Of course men of good will and personal integrity will not apply.
    Another Progressive Success.
    Progressive like Rust and Cancer.

    1. And the cancer has become metastasized… it can no longer be excised. The whole patient is dying.
