13. It’s a Flicker… I hate them because they keep trying to drill holes (big enough for nesting) into my house. And yet, they are a federally protected species, so even throwing nerf-balls at them is an offense that could put me in jail.

    2. They don’t seem to like vinyl siding. Sure do love metal chimneys though.

15. If you’re a bit of a birder, there is an app called Merlin that will identify birds by sound. It does it other ways but that’s how I use it.
    On break from work at a dam on the Madawaska I was IDing birds like a pro.
    No northern flickers though.
