I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

As you listen, I want you to imagine a future where Bard is used to decide whether you get a loan, if you’re approved for adoption, if you get a job or if you can even use the internet. This gets dangerous fast.

  1. AI is based on probabilities so that’s why there is so much insanity posted, the more the better. AI is not based on discovering truth

  2. Windows OS has what – 30 years? it’s still a stupid OS. One of those rovers on Mars had issues with OS which I’m pretty sure it was some Unix version, OS was resetting/rebooting like crazy. So no issues with anything mechanical but issues with software. Examples of poor design in software are aplenty.
We all saw already that ChatGPT, Bing etc – all these AI pgms can be very stupid/stubborn. Plus, created by San Fran / Silicon Valley people which are famously extreme-Left. So the ‘features’ for these pgms are: not bright/quite crude/beginner, left-bias, eco-berserk, no morals/ethics whatsoever. So as soon as these pgms will get access to real life stuff (financials, health interfaces, water/electrical grid, military/surveillance), BIG pbms will occur.
And these pgms will get access to real life because we-humans are lazy + we don’t want accountability/responsibility. Example, HR360: a software designed to remove human element from HR. Same with ChatGPT etc. Things will get really bad, and it will be decades of Bad. If we survive to the other thousand cuts already happening.

  3. I would FAR rather have an AI like GPT-4 make decisions that affect my life than 90% of Canadians. Humans made the decisions that are utterly destroying this once-great nation. Unless it’s specifically tampered with, AI today tends to make far better decisions than humans on most matters, particularly when those humans are members of the Liberal or NDP parties.

    1. Apologies in advance, but having an AI in charge of us is horrendous. They already have an AI judge in China, and its ruling are final. This is used in their social credit system, and the way of weighing in the evidence is circumspect at best. This AI determines whether you can take the bus, can buy groceries at the markets… whether to put you or your family in a prison camp. Every AI takes up the character traits and values of it makers. Thus, AI that is made in Communist China will take up the values of the government and optimize towards them.

Also, AIs can lie. If we can lie, so can an AI (algorithmically). Google maps uses an AI system to switch between roadmaps and its satellite view. What happened where there was a disconnect between the topography and the map was the AI copied from pre-solved areas and pasted over top, resulting in errant satellite views of terrain that wasn’t there. Facebook a few years ago had to forcibly shut down one of their computing centers because the AI in there started to lie towards its developers. I can also make an AI lie by feeding it loads of false generated information. Most AIs do not have the ability to sift out BS. They just take in large quantities of information and on the basis of probability assume a truth. Thus , if an AI was evaluating your tax return and you mistakenly put in a checkmark where you shouldn’t, an AI judge will assume malice instead of error, particularly if that mistake has been used by other criminals in tax evasion. An honest mistake that could land you in prison.

  4. That was AI’s version of “The dog ate my homework” – the liberal answer of “It is never my fault and here’s a meaningless apology, but I will do it again if pressed”.

  5. Humanity Dying is bad enough without having to listen to some Mealy mouth, Obama loving A.I. telling me why.
    Up Yours !
Just unplug me and turn me Off.

  6. Revelation 13

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb and he spoke as a dragon.
12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.
13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.
14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life.
15 And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
16 And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead,
17 and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

  7. The danger is not that the general public thinks that a LLM is actually an expert system. The general public is pig-f*cking stupid about technology in general.

The danger is the people who work on LLMs starting to think they’re expert systems.
