We Don’t Need No Flaming Sparky Cars

Hertz swaps out its CEO as it looks to revitalize business after failed EV push.

Hertz’s stock has struggled recently, falling 27% to start the year and 53% over a 12-month basis. The rental-car company recently made a pivot, saying it would downside its electric-vehicle fleet by about a third as customer demand didn’t live up to expectations and the vehicles were proving too costly to repair. Hertz emerged from bankruptcy in 2021.

Shares were down about 3% in Friday’s late trading.

  1. Perhaps the tide is turning on a number of beaches? EV, ESG, LBetc…, DEI

Hope springs eternal? or batten down the hatches?

  2. I guess this is what happens when physics takes a back seat to blind ideology. But, the balance sheet doesn’t lie. Unfortunately, governments, be they national, provincial or municipal, have the same mindset of the ex-CEO….except they simply raise your taxes when they fail.

  3. “customer demand didn’t live up to expectations…”
    Hmm… I think it’s more like:
“management’s stupid woke demands didn’t live up to customer expectations…”

which would also explain why their stock is tanking.

But hey, I’m no ‘Paul Krugman’, so what do I know?

    1. do a youtube search lehto’s law hertz rental
thos people have been using a ‘short cut’ to track cars in their inventory.

  5. Got woke, went broke. Good. There’s going to be more of it, much more.

Stock tip: Do not invest in any business that blithers on about “sustainability” or depends on even minimal cash flow from solar, wind or similar trash. When the pendulum swings right, they’re done for.
