I have long been wondering about Qatar’s willingness to host Hamas’ leadership post-10/7.

As non-Western as Qatar is, the Emirate has been working assiduously to court Western approval and is hardly a radical Islamist state. This is not to suggest the regime is liberal or Liberal, but rather that they aren’t exactly Iranian-style fanatics. The state is pretty much what you would expect in a country that is in a dangerous region filled with radicals but with an elite who are Western-educated and resolutely capitalist.

I had long suspected that Western governments had given implicit approval for Qatar’s hosting of the radical Islamist terrorist group’s leaders in order to use it as a back-channel to Hamas.

That this story leaked is likely due to Qatar’s frustration with the enduring criticism it has suffered since 10/7. The country has been accused of coddling Hamas’ leaders–and no doubt it sure looks that way–and given the country’s obvious efforts to court Westerners, it surely rankled.

  2. I don’t understand a lot, but I really don’t understand Democrat foreign policy.
    Up here in Frozenturdistan its obviously a case of broad ignorance and base immorality.
    But the Americans clearly know that Hamas, Hezbollah and the Teheran Mullahs are black-hearted animals who need to be executed along with everyone who shares their DNA or view of the world.
    The Russians and Chicoms would shrug and so would the majority of the Arab world. Meanwhile several million Persians would be freed.
    I see no profit or gain in any way, shape or form, but as GYM writes, I’m a bluddy idiot.

      the Progressive mindset\religion states that one must always side with the downtrodden, and the victims in any situation. And generally speaking, that is a good mindset. Except when it goes too far, and people start competing to be seen as the underdog, when they really are anything but. Hand in glove with that, is the belief that the downtrodden can do no wrong, and never has any choice but to rebel, fight back, steal, steal big screen TVs, steal luxury cars. You see, society pushed them to steal the Porsche 911. I mean, they had to eat, right? And the upper echelons of society must be held responsible. The proles have no responsibility for their actions, and the rich have infinite responsibility for the actions of the proles.

      Every MSM news story was initially about the Oct 7 massacre. And people understood that was evil sh^t. But every week, the MSM slowly paints the picture that Hamas is the victim, Palestinians are the victim. Because … reasons.

    3. Buddy: I share your confusion as to why the Democrats have been going to great lengths to give the Iranian mullahs billions of dollars. It doesn’t seem to make sense when the U.S. is an important ally of Saudi Arabia – a mortal enemy of Iran – and the Saudis are one of the largest buyers of U.S. military equipment. Further, there is large Iranian community in the U.S., which is well educated and prosperous. They overwhelmingly loath the mullahs’ despotic control of their families and friends still trapped in Iran.

    I believe ALL gubmint is largely staffed by unimaginative, people that are good at following orders and they found out it’s easier and more personally enriching to take silver instead of lead. After decades of this The Blob itself is now a giant self driven greedy monster surgically attached to every vile entity and now running amok.

You think it’s bad now, just wait until the deep state/Biden regime intentionally starts World War III in Europe, just before Trump returns to the White House (assuming the DNC doesn’t cheat again). Not to mention all the other mayhem happening pretty much everywhere right now. The plan is to cause as much destruction as possible before they leave. Count on it.
