  1. What does “Your comment is awaiting moderation” mean? Is this like special screening at the airport?

      1. Davis – Whatever it means it would not allow me (three times) to post the link or the headline to a story about a storm in the US that knocked out thousands of acres solar panels. Kate, call off your Bots.

          1. To show the Bots that free speech won’t be stopped by AI, the article is at Wattsupwiththat.

            People are stubborn…

    1. so the COLON fails comprehension again, idiot doesn’t even understand what he posted.

      1. This is the crazy ass world we live in today. The mentally ill run the streets and the political circles.

      1. An interesting note I heard is that this port represents something like 12% of US imports/ exports. Couple that with +/- 15% loss of shipping in the Gulf of Aden & Suez Channel along with the current shipping bottlenecks in the Panama canal due to drought = much more inflation on the way.

Is this asymmetric warfare? I suppose once we push hard enough to eventually have some Official “boots on the ground” in Ukraine we’ll definitely find out 100%.

      1. Those “flashes” were the nav lights flashing. The “smoke” was just dirt and dust flying up as a result of the breaking structure.

    1. My only push-back is the port won’t be shut down for 4-5 years. Once the bridge debris is cleared away the port can reopen.

Can you imagine the traffic nightmare they now face? I’m trying to picture one of the main Vancouver bridges being destroyed…

    1. Send the Baltimore bridge ramming vessel. Add a drum track.
Where’s the Jaws shark jumping next?

  2. “Why Today’s UN Security Council Resolution Demanding an Immediate Ceasefire Is Legally Binding
Today, the Security Council adopted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan as a first step to a “lasting sustainable ceasefire”. This comes after a months-long impasse and a total of five vetoes on the matter (three vetoes from the United States and two vetoes from China and Russia, with the latest vetoes cast just last week).

Resolution 2728 (2024) (full text here, the official text should be up here within the next few days) was introduced by the ten non-permanent members (E10) under the leadership of Mozambique. It “[d]emands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan…leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire”. It also “demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, as well as ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs”. Lastly, and more broadly, the same paragraph demands “that the parties comply with their obligations under international law in relation to all persons they detain”. This is the first time since October 2023 that the Security Council has called for a ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution was adopted with 14 votes in favor. The United States abstained.”

    1. Ramadan 2024 goes from March 10 to April 8. It’s March 27, 17 days into Ramadan with 11 days left. “an immediate ceasefire … during Ramadan”. Only the UN could make such a demand. Then there is the issue of “releasing the hostages”. Hamas will be dependent upon the good will of Israel once the hostages are freed.

    2. ““Why Today’s UN Security Council Resolution Demanding an Immediate Ceasefire Is Legally Binding”

Don’t be ridiculous. It was immediately announced at the time as *not* being legally binding, and some anti-Israel loon playing semantic games with the wording doesn’t change that. The US would have vetoed it if it was binding.

  3. Blacklocks Reporter: Gaza Visas Mostly Men, Boys
    https://www.blacklocks.ca/gaza-visas-mostly-men-boys/

A total 986 Gazans, the majority men and boys, have applied to enter Canada, records show. Immigration Minister Marc Miller has proposed to raise the current cap of 1,000 permits to an unspecified number: “The Department of Immigration has not refused any applications.”

This is more evidence of the Trudeau Liberals aligning their immigration policy with a terrorist regime. With roughly 71% of Palestinians supporting Hamas just what type of immigrant will be brought into the country? How many of these Gaza men and boys will be either Hamas fighters or Palestinians aligned with Hamas?

    1. Those are not charges going off. If you see a longer video before impact there is 3 lights continously flashing on top of the bridges. There is lots of questions to be answered, but those flashes weren’t charges.

    1. My first thought upon reading about the fine ,caring folk of North Face is where are their products made? Turns out China, Vietnam, among other countries where they no doubt pay top wages to basic slave labour

  4. “US, UK and Ukraine could be behind Moscow terror attack – FSB chief
Aleksandr Bortnikov told reporters on Tuesday that the authorities are currently trying to establish the identity of everyone involved in the attack, both inside and outside Russia.

When asked whether the US, Britain and Ukraine could be behind the terrorist attack, the FSB chief responded: “We think that this is so. In any case, we are now talking about the information that we have. This is general information, but they [investigators] also have concrete results.””

  5. Hey Kate and the SDA community.

I’ve posted a comment on LinkedIn about Net 0.

    It could use some exposure!

    https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7178793520130928643/

    Full post is:
About Net 0 and The Energy Transition.

This post is predicated on the assumption that increased carbon dioxide levels will result in bad things happening.

This post is about the Canadian government policy of “Net 0” and “The Energy Transition” and how they impact The Public. Specifically, the Canadian public. “The Public” is enshrined in law. In Ontario, regulation 941, section 77 of the Professional Engineers Act states that the first duty of an engineer is to The Public. This section of the regulation is The Code of Ethics.

    So.

These are facts. If you doubt them, do some research. The only ‘energy transition’ happening on a global scale is the transition from no energy to electrical energy. Energy that is almost entirely generated at new coal fired generating stations. This activity is occurring in China, India and other jurisdictions. A common feature of these jurisdictions is – they don’t care about climate change. Those countries that are aggressively working to substitute renewable electrical power for fossil fuels are substituting high cost energy for low cost energy.

These are the consequences. Manufacturing will continue to move from high cost renewable electrical energy in Canada to low cost fossil fuel energy in China, India, Brazil, Africa, etc., etc., etc. The influence of Canada will continue to diminish as our ability to competitively produce goods and hence influence manufacturing and geopolitics continues to diminish. The effect of Net 0 is thus exactly opposite to the intention of Net 0. It accelerates the increases in global carbon dioxide emissions. Those jurisdictions that are building their fossil fuel energy supply will be very supportive of any attempt to impose Net 0 on their competitors as it will allow them to gain market share and hence influence.

Net 0 and The Energy Transition in Canada is thus unethical. It increases global carbon dioxide emissions. It kills Canadian industry. It reduces our geopolitical influence. It increases the cost of living for Canadians. It has no benefit to Canadians. It harms “The Public”.

As an engineer my first duty is to The Public. Not my employer, not my clients, not a lobby for ESG or DEI. As such as an engineer I cannot, in good faith to my oath, advocate for Net 0.

    1. John Eggert,
      Great post on linkedin!
I am a retired professional engineer. Most people do not realize that a primary difference between professional engineers and other so called professionals is that our code of ethics requires that our first duty is to the public good, not the client, not our pocketbook and not the latest zeitgeist. For instance, teachers, being unionized are barred from holding the public good as a first duty. And scientists, long held as exemplifying the search for truth, have never been held to a code of ethics. Some professional engineers do stray from the ethical but the code is always there to remind them of their sins.
