A top adviser at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) deleted records critical to uncovering the origins of COVID-19 — and used a “secret back channel” to help Dr. Anthony Fauci and a federal grantee that funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China, evade transparency.
NIH senior adviser Dr. David Morens improperly conducted official government business from his private email account and solicited help from the NIH’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) office to dodge records requests, according to emails revealed in a memo by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which The Post obtained Wednesday.
“[I] learned from our foia [sic] lady here how to make emails disappear after I am foia’d [sic] but before the search starts,” Morens wrote in a Feb. 24, 2021, email. “Plus I deleted most of those earlier emails after sending them to gmail [sic].”
“I ask you both that NOTHING gets sent to me except to my gmail [sic],” he emphasized again in a Nov. 18, 2021, email to EcoHealth Alliance president Dr. Peter Daszak, whose organization was suspended this month from receiving federal funds for the next three years and who was himself proposed for debarment on Wednesday.

That there was a cover-up at NIH/NIAID is now well established. Top officials used private email addresses and perhaps burner phones to conduct official government business and to delete communications about COVD-19 origins in order to defeat FOIA requests — all of this is stated in their own words.
The huge question that this raises is — Why the cover-up?

How does one expect to hide information if one uses gmail? For an expert he was certainly lacking judgement to say the least. It’s difficult to understand that a person responsible for foil in an organization would be giving advice on how to delete information that could be subject ti inquiry.

“Gain of Function” research on pathogens is, and always has been at its heart, a bio-weapons development program. They just put a polite name on it to try and make it seem innocuous. That is also the reason that governments around the world freaked out when the release from the Wuhan lab became known. Another element of the coverup was that our government was, in effect, paying an enemy (China) to conduct that research for us.
My only question at this point is whether the release was accidental or deliberate. Remember that in spite of all the panic, shutdowns, and lockdowns, for most victims of this virus, it was no worse than a serious case of the flu. If the disease had not exhibited a nasty tendency to kill off people who were already unhealthy, it would have proceeded practically unnoticed, except for those who knew what was really going on and could quietly track its spread.
Also, the billions in research money, the power of the international public health bureaucracy, the politics of lockdowns, the capital of the pharmaceutical industry, oh and the millions of people that died from the disease and will die from the vaccines. Was there a cover-up?
Anytime there is any potential for a scandal involving the State, the question isn’t was there a cover-up, it’s how big a cover-up was there? There’s always a cover-up.
