Les Deplorables!

You go, girl. (sorry, link fixed)

Marine Le Pen’s National Rally was on track to dominate the first round of France’s legislative election, dealing a major blow to President Emmanuel Macron and setting the stage for a far-right party to control the country’s government for the first time in its modern history.

The National Rally was projected to get between 33% and 34.2% of the vote, according to initial projections from four polling companies on Sunday. The left-wing New Popular Front coalition was set to get between 28.5% and 29.6% and Macron’s centrist alliance between 21.5% and 22.4%.

Even though Macron’s presidency isn’t formally at stake – and he’s said he has no plans to resign – Sunday’s result indicates he’ll likely have to share governing responsibilities with Le Pen’s group, which opposes most of his priorities, from migration and pension reform to strengthening the European Union.

Le Pen said her party “practically wiped out the Macron bloc” when speaking to supporters in her constituencey in Northern France Sunday evening. “The French have shown in a vote without ambiguity their will to turn the page on seven years of corrosive power.”

  1. And in today’s EU/Globalist/France … every Cosette is an “extreme right winger”.

  2. As others have said – why the “Far-Right” label? What specific policies are so extremist? That France should have sovereign borders? Controlled immigration? Be able to produce their own power and grow their own food? That they should not be taking sides in foreign conflicts where there are no “good guys?” That France should plot her own course and policies independant of people in Brussels whom the French did not elect? Those don’t sound “Far-Right” to me. They sound like what most sensible people from the left or right would have said a decade ago, before French citizens became afraid to express their honest thoughts, as their views were increasingly demonized by the true extremists.
There is a difference between discussing specific policies and name-calling. The National Post should be better than to repeat the tired mantras of those who wish to replace fact based discussion with tribalistic labels and name calling. Please…..list what this party stands for, rather than simply attaching labels like “far-right” with its inaccurate and fear-inducing connotaions.

    1. See: centrist dads in today’s Sunday on Turtle Island feature … it explains what the EXTREME Left consider … “centrist”

    2. As used currently by the MSM, it’s a compliment. Far right = Completely correct.

    3. My reaction exactly, when I watched the news this evening talking about a “far-right party” getting the most votes. For most of my lifetime, their platform would have been considered basically common sense, in other words, centrist.

    4. Macron = Centrist? Le Pen = Far right?
Can somebody shift that Overton Window back to where it belongs, please?

If you listen to the media, in particular, CTV (fake)”News”, you’d think that France was facing some kind of existential threat to it’s democracy!

    5. If you were a globalist, those policies would sound far-right. It’s a label stuck on to anything they don’t like in order to smear political opponents with “Hilter”

      1. LOL. Thanks for making me laugh.

How many net deportations* did Trump attain?

*Net deportation = deportation – infiltration

  3. No top French presidential candidate has come out against the Covid-19 vaccine outright. Even those campaigning far to the right – Éric Zemmour, Marine Le Pen and Nicolas Dupont-Aignan – have encouraged the elderly and the vulnerable to get vaccinated, all the while walking a fine line to keep both pro- and anti-vax segments of their electorates onside.

Each of the three right-wingers are opposed to vaccine mandates. Rassemblement national (National Rally) candidate Le Pen has called the policy of suspending healthcare professionals without pay for refusing innoculations a “scandal” and “brutal” for the caregivers as well as “absolute stupidity” when patients need their care. But of the three, only Dupont-Aignan has not been vaccinated himself.

  4. Wanna know how Le Pen will perform? Just look at Georgia Meloni’s record. (Hint: infiltrators are not being deported from Italy.)

    1. Yeah, funny that. An about face after just several weeks. I assume blackmail played a hand. I imagine lots of politicos have lots of skeltons in their closets.

  5. The Term Far Right government in the Left Wing Countries like France and Canada are like First Timer’s comments- central Democratic Parties that believe in Freedom!

  6. France, is all about its African colonies.. A major part of the French economy $$$.. They don’t have a border to protect.. That’s goes double for the culture they sold 150 years ago.. = Buyers remorse..
