True North News- Toronto police to target tow truck turf wars as shootings spike by 74%
Since Jan. 1, there have been 26 tow truck-related shootings and discharges, representing 12% of the city’s total shootings and discharges.
“Towing conflicts in the GTA have historically been about territorial disputes and rivalries. However, it’s important to reiterate that this issue involves a very, very small segment of the towing industry,” said Matthews
“It seems gun violence in certain parts of Canada is so common that some in the towing industry believe that public shootings are a feasible response to competitive pressures,” said Giltaca.
Johnson revealed that 85% to 90% of handguns and assault rifles being seized from the crimes are coming from the South of the border, primarily from Ohio, Texas, Florida, and Michigan.

We now have a system that even if you are on bail for other crimes and get arrested for new crimes, you’ll get bail again. Which is then followed by prosecutors waiving charges a lot of the time, and not getting long terms for repeat violent offenders.
Neither Ontario or the Feds are doing anything about it.

Basically, encourage a “system” that steadily degrades public confidence and consequently “stresses” the general populace.

To do something about it, they’d have to build a whole slew of new prisons. That would cost money and make them look bad, so it will never happen.

Many tow truck drivers are cops making a little extra on their day off. Cops will do nothing about this whole thing.

Bullshit, many tow truck drivers are affiliated with bikers, and run drugs and stolen car parts.
Exactly! And not just in the Toronto area. The work is too hard for cops?
Plenty of cops moonlight as tow truck drivers, others have their preferred operators who they call first to accidents for some cashback. That has been going on for decades.
This isn’t just a Toronto phenomenon. In Ottawa, the industry operates like organized crime. I personally witnessed 5 tow trucks converging on a neighbour’s home, and the drivers attacking his son with baseball bats. His dad asked for police protection overnight but was refused. The cops were unsympathetic because the man’s son had been involved in a similar attack earlier. Another elderly neighbor was threatened in my presence because she called for a tow truck, and I had given her a boost for free. These guys are probably terrifying to deal with for women driving alone. The gang organization (because that’s what it is), is arranged on an ethnic basis.
Get a CAA membership. It’s a lot better than dealing with some random tow truck that shows up if you have an accident or roadside breakdown. I’ve used their services many times over 40 plus years and always with a good result.

That is impossible the dear leader has already banned handgun. It more likely lead poisoning from the exhaust, quick dear leader will ban cars and trucks too to protect these innocent drivers. They will be better off working from home.
