    1. Great point, Paul. As San Fran Nan suggested a few years ago when people were unemployed, she said they would be free to pursue their art. It’s all fuzzy bunnies, unicorns, and garden faeries from here on out.

      So, it looks like there will be 300 more people out there gluing popsicle sticks together in creative ways. We could always use more birdhouses.

    How many of those cuts will be in the C-suites?
    How many of those cuts will be in “marketing”?

    I suspect those numbers will be close to zero, but those creating their products will be let go.

  4. This is well earned from an industry that never asks the viewers/listeners what they want. Instead, it’s a business model that tells the customer what they want or should have. And they are usually wrong.

    The same is happening is Sask. with CKOM and CJME. They are offering a product that less and less people are interested in, forgetting that there are options out there. It’s just a matter of time before Rawlco talk goes to country and then off the air for good (or sold to Patterson).

    1. Totally agree Hank. Murray Wood hitched a ride on the Woke Train long ago and his commentary and influence on programming has made CJME less and less relevant or interesting. In a world where we can go search out the content we want, legacy media has certainly been tone deaf for years now.

    2. Maybe Bell Media will suffer the same. Crave’s signature series is the degenerate Drag Race. A tranny promoting program the rooster lollipop from Ottawa loves to guest star.

  6. Global radio talk in Alberta is just people who love to hear themselves talk and if someone dares to try and disagree with them , then are just talked over and mysteriously disconnected .
    The Edmonton guy is a closet NDP and anti conservative, and the Calgary afternoon guy is a former libertarian who now hates the premier and won’t ever admit that his opinions are not the absolute truth.
    I miss the old days.

  11. Back in the day I was likely to listen to talk radio on Corus when driving. When they started hiring communists and some like Charles Adler became communist, I had enough. Global news makes me gag. It blends editorial comment into news. Low on facts, high on disguised comment.

  13. Dear Corus Entertainment management: I’ve been actively avoiding all your media products, both television and radio, for many years. I do not have cable, I do not listen to the radio, I do not buy newspapers.

    Please enjoy bankruptcy as soon as you can.

  14. I count myself fortunate that I am neither a football or hockey fan as it gives me even more freedom not to listen to Edmonton Corus. I don’t have TV so Global is already gone. I find I am much better informed and much less likely to fall for the various manias. I didn’t get jabbed, I don’t believe in AGW, I don’t think that Ukraine is a great place, I pray for peace in the Middle East and not cheer blindly for Israel. I don’t vote liberal and I would never vote socialist.

  15. The Red Green Show, The Littlest Hobo, Heavy Rescue: 401, Corner Gas, Trailer Park Boys, The Kids In The Hall etc.

    Modern corporate executives are all heavily trained at universities to look down their noses at these shows and their audiences, but they were good and successful.

    More complete and total failure is still required in canadian media, and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of jerks, but maybe when the dust clears they can look past the ignorant university trained artsy fartsies.

    If the propaganda doesnt work, than fire everyone, but keep control of the asset.
