Mischief Makers

Closing arguments are finally being heard in the freedom convoy court case centering on charges of mischief. The trial was supposed to take a couple of weeks but wound up lasting nearly a year. That’s in addition to varying periods of incarceration for the defendants since early 2022. It’s anyone’s guess as to what it cost the prosecution to pursue the case.

Lich and Barber’s lawyers have argued throughout the trial that organizing a protest is not an illegal activity and is protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The court has scheduled three days to hear the final arguments in the case, as well as several extra days next week in case they go long.

  1. Lich and Barber’s lawyers are correct. There was no violence, there were no threats of violence – it was the happiest protest in my time as a Canadian citizen. If they are jailed because of this, the government needs to consider the implications for its survival. Canadians have a long fuse. Those with long fuses have a hefty reaction when the end is reached.

    1. The time I spent down there on the hill during the extravaganza was the happiest time I’ve experienced in the entire 28 years I lived in the nation’s capital! Never did I feel so proud being part of something so historic! Not even the time I spent in Montreal standing under the giant Canadian flag during the “No” campaign of the 1995 Quebec referendum. That wasn’t even a close second!

  2. based on comments I have read over the last couple of years, the majority of liberals want these people in jail, and that is where we are in Canada today, thanks to a useless drama teacher

  3. How can a simple trial take a year? Can’t idiot judges schedule their time better than that? The actual time spent was only about a month in spurts. The punishment is the process.

  4. Can you even imagine how the Prosecutorial team is just wetting their pants to throw the book at those damn conservative white people!! Those “anti-government” “terrorists” … those … those … awful Catholics!! I’d imagine every day of “work” for them is utterly orgasmic … hence, they’ve stretched the case out as long as administratively feasible.

Plus! There’s probably many home improvement projects funded by the wages earned from this fraudulent prosecution. Government drones getting rich. On the injustice hurled at their political opponents.

  5. hang in there Tamara *hang in there*. you,if you choose, are destined for HoC.
think not? late Vaclav Havel went from communist hoochgow to Czech presidency

    1. Indeed, that is the ultimate FYOU to the few LIEberals and Mediots that will be left after Election 2025, a constant reminder to the Mediots of who she is and what she stands for.
Solicitor General would be a nice position, but she’s not a lawyer, nor Justice Minister.
It would be a sweet moment, but I dont think she’s interested in politics, in that way. It would mean compromising her integrity

      1. ya. thus the ‘if you choose’. l managed to communicate with one of her people somehow a ways back, she isnt intersted. be a nice feather in the cap 1 term.

  6. The Beastie Boys say they will fight for our right to party and that’s good enough for me.

  7. Mischief is an unconstitutionally broad charge the government uses when they don’t know what to charge you with and wants to make an example out of you.

This of course doesn’t matter to the liberal appointed judges.
