A former Department of Industry manager has pleaded guilty to breach of trust without jail time, RCMP said yesterday. Evidence in the latest contracting scandal showed Marc Primeau of Long Sault, Ont. paid federal contracts to his own company and pocketed a 39 percent profit
It’s the librano way. The countries riches belong to them. They are deserving because they are not appreciated by the unwashed they serve.
… and pocketed a 39% profit. That seems reasonable.
Wait, didn’t Jagmeet (PBUH) insist that a 3% profit margin was excessive???
39% seems low for a francophone with his hand in the till, but I guess he’s a franco-Ontarian. Slightly higher margins in La Belle Province pour la pure laine perhaps
He had expenses.
Right you are, Steve. Hookers and blow ain’t cheap. Inflation has been brutal.
Verdict: Guilty of fraud over $5 million.
Sentence (for a Liberal): to be paid $5 million.
L – L – Given the privileged access that “public” servants have to the means to enrich themselves in an abuse of
power. A judiciary diligent in protecting the public purse(citizen$) would consider effective deterrent in their
sentencing calculation. To maintain public trust in government institutions, should a malice of forethought
and conflict of interest offence(self versus the public trust) of such a magnitude
should it include jail?
Bringing the administration of justice into disrepute used to be a fear for conscientious judges.
Without freedom of speech and a free press, a free and democratic society is throttled into unconsciousness
…and eventually until it stops breathing.
“He received a 24-month conditional sentence and has delivered $90,000 in restitution funds to ISED, an estimate of the profits that he had gained illegally.”
An estimate? They couldn’t bother to do the accounting?
Deleted repeat comment to Steve (above)
So, let’s see here. Sweetheart deals happen because the crook has:
(a) provided investigators with evidence that will sink the real stinkers, or
(b) agreed to be the fall guy and everyone will pretend the investigation is over.
I’m leaning heavily towards “b”. Though I’m sure that “a” could have happened.
