    1. Kenjii – stop voting Democrat lol. I think high end jobs (associated with high end employers) are leaving more than just California. Offshoring engineering is a widespread phenomena, for example.

    someone needs to work that angle voting patterns, consequences, put your X in the wrong place and one of the big boy’s X leaves town. that sort of something but far more stinging

    1. yes, the university downtown is the significant factor in keeping it weird; however the burbs surrounding the city are inhabited by another kind of texan. here’s an anecdote that should put a smile on your face: michael dell (dell technologies) was building his home on a nice chunk of land within austin city limits and the socialists in city hall passed a special zoning tax/levy/construction doo-dah in order to extract a ridiculous sum from “the capitalist” – to make matters worse, the site and house (ok mansion) with permits were already under development.
      michael dell abandoned the project entirely (walked away) – bought another property just outside austin city limits and built his home there. nyuk nyuk nyuk.
