  1. In 1980 this was already obvious because of simple reactive chemistry…. Now 45 years later it’s suddenly become a new idea. And yes, cars in garages, e-bikes in apartments…. Welcome to the 21st century you morons.

  2. IED’s coming soon to a canada near you!

It’s the only thing our betters from the middle east seem to be capable of making, and when all our free stuff starts to run out – they ain’t gonna be happy…

  3. That was one AA sized battery. To see what 9000 or so slightly larger batteries do, look up any Tesla car fire video. Granted that the Tesla cells are a different lithium battery chemistry. Nevertheless, an EV battery contains a lot of energy and a lot of reactive ingredients. After many charge /discharge cycles the batteries become pyrophoric on exposure to atmospheric water vapour or oxygen when a casing is damaged. They burn away until depleted or until combustible materials surrounding them (car components, trapped passengers, etc) are consumed. The application of fire fighting water doesn’t put out the fire until the reactants are exhausted. Really nasty stuff.

  4. Wasn’t there just a BIG hurricane in FL … with flooding … storm surge … roads, homes … and garages underwater? Isn’t FL a sunny, warm environment that is one of the most prolific EV States? I certainly hope everyone kept their Teslas dry …

  5. I’d try and find that video of the Chinese fella taking his soon to explode scooter battery onto an elevator but we don’t need to see that BBQ this late on a Friday night.
