    Canada agreed to spend 2% of GDP on the military, and now spends under 1.4% of GDP on military in a good year (for the military) and in bad years it’s normally one of the first items of any budget to be cut or scaled back.

    Canada hasn’t met the 2% of GDP standard since Brian Mulroney was PM in about 1988, Canada’s military equipment purchasing is abysmal at best, and we’re “led” by imbeciles who do not appear to learn anything from past mistakes.

    Now they’re going to spend billions on this submarine project, and I expect tier 2 Canada to fail on every measurement possible. It’s what Canada does.
