What tribe of people is this? I’m impressed by their appreciation of music. … and acknowledging the greatness of those licks and lead. And if you really want to see it … and appreciate the genius of K-nophler’s Sultans … Rick Beato will explain … and demonstrate.
I like that they’re impressed by Knopfler’s ability to play with his bare fingers and not having to actually look where his fingers are, and while he’s “very good” perhaps they’re ready to be introduced to Jeff Beck, who also does this with his bare fingers, and not having to look as well..
*Beck and Knopfler were negotiating how a new album of songs with them together would be, just prior to Beck dying in January 2023
On my top 10 guitarists.
Frank Zappa
Adrian Belew
Mark Knopfler
Robert Fripp
Bill Nelson
John McGeough
Steve Hackett
Robyn Guthrie
Tom Verlaine
Robbie Krieger
That’s right, no Beck, Clapton, May, Page, Hendrix, Van Halen etc. They’ve all got the chops but I’m interested in their approach and sounds.
Mark Knopfler or Jimi Hendrix playing a Strat.
Does it get any better?
Not better but on par? Richard Thompson. Knopfler is heavily influenced by him, I believe. I love them both.

Good for you for finding room for Robby Krieger on your list. Still my favorite psychedelic guitarist. But I would have included Peter Banks …
I’ll just drop you in when the fun begins …

I would love to see how Tribal People react to the Who’s live performance of Won’t Get Fooled Again:
