It Was a Working Holiday

Blacklock’s- CBCer Defends France Junket

Catherine Tait, $497,000-a year CEO of the CBC, yesterday confirmed she billed taxpayers $1,000 a night to enjoy a five star hotel in Paris in July. Tait said taxpayers would have been concerned if she didn’t attend the Paris Olympics.

“Well I was on holiday,” replied Tait. “That is why I did not ask CBC to pay for my airfare. Nevertheless when I want to the Games I was working on behalf of CBC.”

  1. I’m a taxpayer and I’m concerned the CBC is till a budget line.

Back when the CBC mattered only in that it broadcasted HNIC, taxpayers just needed Ron and Don to show face in the intermission.

  2. anyone making that bank, stays in spendy rooms when on exotic vacations…it’s an entitlement when you’re that special/

  3. “…taxpayers would have been concerned if she didn’t attend the Paris Olympics.”
    WHAT ???
Does she think we all live our lives vicariously through her? Taxpayers don’t give a shyte if she goes to the Olympics or not, and they do not like paying her expenses while she’s on holiday! At $497,000-a year she can well afford to pay $1000 a night.

Wow, what a mind-boggling sense of entitlement this parasite has.

  4. I was actually hoping she would spend some of her bonus on a new hair color, maybe green or purple, it would suit her better

  5. 1) There is no business justification for the ceo to be watching the Olympics in person.
    2) Were the CBC reporters and camera people also staying at the $1,000/night hotel?

  6. Who on the board approved this spending?
Who on the board approved her contract which included bonuses, despite the failing of the cbc?
Who on the board was also at the olympics (3 internal attendees are listed under her hospitality expense)?
Where is the receipt for the dinner at https://restaurantdessirier.com/pages/cartes-et-menus?
What were the “other expenses” of $369.89, and why are we paying for her “Meals and Incidentals”?

How much could be saved by her having zoom meetings, instead of flying all over the place?

Her trip to the Olympics was less egregious than her may trip to Paris, London and Berlin over 9 days where she spent $14021.16
