Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“The island-wide blackout, inconceivable in a modern nation, provides an omen for the future. Sooner or later, infrastructure collapse will trigger political collapse.”
The author is perhaps over-optimistic about eventual recovery. In the same region is the disaster called Haiti. Far from recovering, Haiti has been getting worse and worse for the past century. It’s not clear that there’s anything left to recover. The environment is destroyed; its agriculture, tourism and mining industries are all in ruins.
Perhaps Justin Trudeau could take over as el Presidente?
He’s the right colour.
Yes! That would be a two-er de farce. Presiding over the ruin of two countries his fathers led.
Congrats to Cuba for reaching Net Zero before any other industrialized *snicker* nation!! Well done Cuba!! Always blazing the progressive path forward, eh comrade Kamala?
Fracking-eh … eh, Kamala?
Their electricity, when available, is produced almost entirely from petroleum fired facilities. But that is never mentioned by the eco-greens who tout Cuba as a a great vacation destination.
Cuban tourism has never recovered from Co-vid, and the biggest moneymaker for the government is now, believe it or not, exporting doctors to other countries under contract. The doctors receive less than 25% of the money the Cuban government receives, they can’t bring their family, and if they go AWOL, they can’t return to Cuba for 8 years.
Canada does not participate in this outrage. Mexico does, though.
That will teach them not to go solar and wind, those two new marvels of dependable electricity production…
Using Kate’s clever title for the illogic of it all, there is a reason we started using carbon powered mechanisms to propel our ships and boats instead of depending on wind currents: Efficiency. Improvement of the human condition.
Same thing can be said for free capitalism vs oppressive communism: Enlightenment vs mediocrity.
I pray for the Cuban people. Who knows, Trump might take care of it and I don’t think Vladimir would be able to do a thing about it…especially these days.
As long as liberal socialist communism is the order of the day, things will get much worse. Twaddels is evil beyond anyone’s comprehension.
