    1. The “traditional” tribe that claimed ownership over it has already gotten paid 3 times for the same land, most recently in 2010, which of course will not extinguish their claims to it.

    1. I found it interesting that the first line of the post contained the FN name for the new island and a link to population replacement. I live in Regina and just sold my sister’s investment condo to a new Canadian from India. In the past 3 years since my late sister purchased the condo, the building’s demographics have changed from mostly old white people, to at least 50% people from South East Asia (AKA India). They could care less about Canada’s whiny Indians and the same goes for new Canadians of Chinese heritage. I will probably not live to see it, but I think in the next 10-20 years, the “first nations” will find their whines landing on deaf ears. Already, the new immigrants are entering municipal and provincial politics.
      Most people do not realize this, but even including people of Metis heritage, the Canadian population of FN people is only about 2 million. I do NOT see them working any retail jobs or in the financial services (my main contacts), but I do see lots of SE Asians and Philipinos employed. How about FN people get off the reserve and become part of the Canadian economy?

  3. Maxime Bernier never seems to complain about the Liberals as much as he does about the Conservatives. He is constantly attacking the Conservatives. I think he is a vote splitting controlled opposition plant.

    2. In the book “The Patriot Game” Peter Brimelow – and I’m not commenting on anything he said or wrote after this book – noted that “Canada, like certain obscure sea creature, has evolved vital organs outside its skeletal structure, in this case, south of the 49th parallel.”

      It is not just south of the 49th anymore….

      That some of the most interesting articles about Canada – like this piece by Mad Max (the facts of which not even a Liberal would dispute) – appear in NON-CANADIAN PUBLICATIONS speaks to the parochial, stilted, impoverished – and indeed, morally and politically cowardly – nature of the Canadian Discourse and is its of own kind of National Indictment.

Corollary: the Canadian Discourse is parochial, stilted, impoverished and indeed, morally and politically cowardly because a large percentage of Canadians also fit this description – i.e., a bunch of cowering, permission-asking, rule-following, authority-deferring, mask-wearing, social ostracism-fearing, government teat-suckling, passive-aggressively backbiting, courage-deficient, moral Liliputians.

        However, I see in say, the US, that the government can bust down your front door with some tinpot, jacked-up, power-tripping paramilitarized team of officious bureaucrats to kill you pet squirrel, so I’m not sure things are necessarily much better elsewhere (grass is always greener et al).

  6. There can never be reconciliation without truth.

    Most of we older Canadians learned British or French history in our schools as children. Later in life, I learned more, by reading very early Canadian histories, e.g. https://globalgenealogy.com/countries/canada/ontario/eastern-ontario/resources/1012092.htm

    We early Canadians did come to Canada with good stuff that the so-called first nations liked and the Spanish brought horses and guns to North America earlier. Indians decimated the buffalo. It is true that this was a bit of a takeover, but most was positive, initially. England was quite good at getting rid of excess people.

    Reserves in Canada are run as tribal communities, with those lower on the totem pole getting not much. Diefenbaker was right. Property rights!!! Existing reserves need individual property rights for their homes, as do the rest of Canadians. The Charter of Rights (Trudeau #1) was flawed from the get-go.

Marxism rules the humanities along with hatred of western civilization; the nihilism of multiculturalism where the most aggressive and confident “cultures” now fill the void of moral relativism; the post modern nihilism of DEI, ESG, CRT, gender pretense, the pretense of Indigenous “knowledge” along with Marxist land acknowledgement, and traditional religious anchoring has been replaced with pantheistic, anti-human, pseudo-environmentalism. These pathologies have marched through the institutions and virtually all institutionalized disciplines. This describes the west in general but in Canada’s case, we are blessed with the systemic failure of multiculturalism and bilingualism and a resultant Quebec politic that essentially rules the nation it despises.
