I thought the problem was ‘overpopulation’ and ‘colonialism’ by people coming to Canada. Now they tell the climate and the First Nations will be fine given _enough_ incomers.

Kate is correct in debunking this “truism” by tying it to a ponzi scheme. The reason the ponzi scheme exists is because of the welfare nanny state and all those free stuff voters directing the state towards bankruptcy. A limited government unengaged in wealth redistribution would not necessitate immigration. Immigration can still be beneficial to such an economy but needs to be focused on the ability of immigrants to be self sufficient.
